You can't just use any picture you find online for your websites, even if you find it via Google. You can choose to "risk it", but that means you won't respect the author (or artist) of the creative work. There's a lot of shady copying happening online and many freelancers are rightly mad about it. Just read this copyright infringement guide if you want to get a glimpse of what it's like to protect your own work.

So instead of blindly copying images found on Google, it'd be much better to use a source that guarantees freely-usable images.

So where can you find high-quality, but freely-usable, images?

Enter Unplash

So if you're in need of an image for your project, check out unsplash. The site mentions a simple license too:

Unsplash photos are made to be used freely. Our license reflects that.

✅ All photos can be downloaded and used for free
✅ Commercial and non-commercial purposes
✅ No permission needed (though attribution is appreciated!)

What is not permitted 👎

🚫 Photos cannot be sold without significant modification.
🚫 Compiling photos from Unsplash to replicate a similar or competing service.
